In human existence, a question commonly asked is, "Who am I?" This question is the heart of the quest for the Self. This is a quest which may take a lifetime, sometimes longer, to fulfill. One path, of self-discovery, is when people turn to their surroundings in their search. In turning to their surroundings, people are able to see their Selves by the things around them. In observing the surroundings, people may, not only, find their Selves, but establish their Selves. No one can know the truth of something until they experience it for themselves. First you must live your life before you can give up or you wont discover what you want to know. The process of self-discovery is one made up of genetics, environment and personal experience and interpretation. All of these elements affect our personality development and worldview to one degree or another. Ideally, the individual will develop a well-rounded perspective that encompasses self-actualization directed towards community with others. Unfortunately, education, economics, and a host of other factors play a role in the degree to which one is able to evolve such a perspective. Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. To most the real guidance comes from humans because of their immense strength of character

The universe expands constantly all around us,
So then our characters should be ever expanding.
So many going in the search of ones inner self,
But one needs to be strong to discover ones self.

For if you are tortured deep within yourself,
You will never wake up to discover who you are.
Many believe your soul will prevail in the end,
But many souls succumb to the seven sins.

The paths never matter for self-discovery,
It is you who matter on the path to your goal.
On your path that you create for yourself,
You need willpower to discover who you are.

There is no achievement for you in the end,
Just your happiness for discovering yourself.
To prove your worth to the world around,
To know your souls is filled with a kindness.

Man, this brought me back to my Philosophy class. Hardest class I ever took - not because of all the homework or essays we had to write... but because of the topics we discussed and and trying to wrap my head around the subjects we discussed - much like the one you spoke of in this journal: Self-actualization.

I wonder what life would be like if the currency system was not needed to stimulate people to achieve their goals. This is really geeky of me to say this... but like in Star Trek: The Next Generation tv show, Captain Piccard speaks to a human in the 2064 (or something like that) , and he spoke of how the world economics on Earth only relies on people striving to better the world - no money involved. I think, if humanity can achieve to become a society of that caliber, I think the path to self-actualization will be much more important in ones life than today... where people (such as myself) have to struggle paycheck to paycheck to survive... :\ Sometimes, we forget what it is to find our selves in this world because we are too busy just trying to hold onto the few tidbits we own from being snatched away from the banks. :iconfacepalmplz:

I don't know, this is just me rambling on now... take it as you like.
